Threat Condition

Threat Condition (TC), Ship Condition, or Readiness Level is a set of four levels which determine dress, combat readiness, and ship state in a military starship.

Condition Blue is issued during peacetime and is the most relaxed state. Officers wear ceremonial uniforms during active hours. General crew wear light working uniforms and can wear personal clothes during off hours as long as it is in their quarters, at the mess hall, or at a recreation center.

Ships will remain fully pressurized in this condition. Weapons are discharged/disarmed and sensors are left in a passive mode. Ship reactors and thrusters are not allowed to run at 100% unless it is an immediate emergency.

Condition Green represents a near war/in war state but with no hostiles in the current or adjacent star systems. Officers wear a lighter variant of their ceremonial uniforms. General crew must wear light working uniforms at all times.

Ships will remain fully pressurized. Weapons are discharged/disarmed and sensors are left in a passive mode. Datalink is established with the rest of the assets in the system. Ship reactors and thrusters are not allowed to run at 100% unless it is an immediate emergency.

Condition Yellow is issued when a threat is in system but contact is not expected for days/weeks/months. Officers and crew must wear their combat IVA suits but are not required to wear their helmets. Crew must operate in tight shifts, ensuring peak efficiency at all times.

Ships will remain fully pressurized. Warheads are armed but particle/laser/capacitor banks are left in a low charged state. The main sensor array operates at wartime power and datalinks with the rest of the assets in system. Cutting edge ECM/Electroviruses are not allowed to prevent early detection/resistance by enemy forces.

Condition Red is initiated on contact.
