Antimatter Capsule

An antimatter capsule (AC) is a self powered container with 1 gram of antimatter inside. It is the standard currency for intercorporate/interstellar trade.

ACs are standardized and compatible with any antimatter consuming components. A single AC can power a capital ship for a hundred years of standard operation (given that hydrogen fuel is provided). Most high energy equipment consumes AC through matter-antimatter annihilation. Power generation is typically achieved through antimatter catalyzed fusion reactions.

Most AC production occurs around Sol within the many stellar accelerator facilities in low sun orbit. Several forge worlds have also exhibited the ability to create and contain antimatter, although at extremely low efficiency. Antimatter created through solar energy are considered “free” antimatter while those created through high energy processes are “dirty” antimatter.

AC will decay over time to power its own containment unit, albeit on the timescale of thousands of years.
